There’s lots to see and even more to do, at the Calgary Zoo! Venture into Panda Passage, immerse yourself in Land of Lemurs, or answer the call of the Canadian Wilds and behold the animals – from the glorious grizzly to the majestic moose – living right here in our own backyard. With a comprehensive daily activities schedule, no two visits are the same. Enjoy an abundance of expert-led programming from Caring for Gorillas to Animal Snackers, every day of the week!
In 2018, the Calgary Zoo excitedly welcomed adult pandas Er Shun and Da Mao and cubs Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue for a five-year stay. During their time in Calgary, the giant pandas will reside at Panda Passage, a newly constructed, cutting edge habitat. The first project in Alberta to receive the prestigious Petal Certification, Panda Passage is the most advanced habitat in the world and promises a unique experience where visitors can discover so much about these charming and elusive animals. The Calgary Zoo is a leader in wildlife conservation, here in Canada and around the world. Each year the pandas are in Calgary, the zoo is contributing $1.4 million to support conservation initiatives for this vulnerable species, including breeding, habitat protection, reintroduction science, and research.
