National Aviation Day
February 23 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
This year The Hangar is reaching for higher altitudes as they celebrate National Aviation Day and 11 years of powered flight on Sunday February 23, 2020.
Join them for free guided tours, hands-on activities, and a “buy one get one” admission deal you just can’t miss. They’ll also have a Bell 47 Helicopter open for interior viewing. You may remember this type of helicopter from the TV show M*A*S*H.
Did you know?
The Silver Dart replica on display at the Museum was built to honour the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers original flight. The Silver Dart had its first successful flight on February 23, 1909 in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. It was a bitterly cold day, with all of Baddeck huddled together on the side of the long Bras d’Or Lakes, when the Silver Dart was dragged along the ice behind a horse-drawn sleigh. Aviation has come far since that day, and The Hangar Flight Museum strives to show the full picture of aviation history in Western Canada. Visit on February 23rd to discover Canada’s role in aviation history.
