Walk for Reconciliation 2022

June 21 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

Join in the Walk for Reconciliation, an opportunity to reflect on the difficult history and atrocities of residential schools in Canada, the legacies of survivors, and how we can all move forward together to overcome adversity.

Registration is free and open to everyone.

This annual Walk began in 2009, as a partnership between the Trellis Society (formerly the Aspen Family and Community Network Society) and the Aboriginal Friendship Center of Calgary, to commemorate former Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s formal apology to the survivors of Indian Residential Schools. The annual walk, originally held on June 11, was moved to June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day, to acknowledge the larger conversation and active movement towards Reconciliation.

Walk for Reconciliation schedule

  • 8 am – Meet at the Harry Hays Building (220 4 Ave SE)
  • 8:15 – 9:30 am – Walk along the RiverWalk to  Fort Calgary (950 9th Ave SE)
