DESCRIPTION:This registration is for our public professional development sessions. If you’re looking to book a private session for a large group\, click here. \nWhen: June 5\nCost: $85 a person\nTime: 10 am – 3pm\nWhere: 750 9th Ave SE \nAny professional working in Calgary will benefit from a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures\, and the impacts of historical events. \nThis special offering of our Indigenous Allyship Professional Development Workshop can accommodate small groups or individuals interested in fostering a more respectful and inclusive work environment. \nThe Indigenous Allyship Professional Development Workshop includes: \n\n\nan engaging session on how to give a meaningful land acknowledgment \n\n\na guided walking tour of the land stopping at key landmarks and discussing critical perspectives on Indigenous and colonial histories \n\n\na storytelling session and Q&A with an Indigenous Elder/Knowledge Keeper \n\n\nGain valuable insight and perspective on contemporary Indigenous relations to further your professional and personal journey to reconciliation. \nBe sure to pack a lunch!  \nThe workshop runs five hours\, including a one-hour lunch break. Food will not be provided so please pack a lunch or plan to grab food from a nearby business. Unfortunately\, we do not have microwaves available to use. \nHear from Indigenous Voices \nThis workshop was developed with Otsskoipiiks’aakii Paula Smith\, a Blackfoot Knowledge Keeper from Piikani Nation. Paula and other facilitators will lead a discussion about the significance of land acknowledgments and how to encourage positive Indigenous relationships on your team. \nIn the afternoon\, Paula will lead a storytelling session and discussion alongside Minipoka Peter Weasel Moccasin. This offering valuable insight and perspective on contemporary Indigenous relations. Equip yourself with the knowledge and tools to foster a respectful\, inclusive environment that honours Indigenous traditions and experiences.
