DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the power of storytelling with the Black Excellence Film Series\, a dynamic collaboration between Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc. and The Confluence.  More than just a screening\, this year-long film series creates space for meaningful conversations\, deeper connections\, and a shared appreciation of the richness of Black culture\, history\, and creativity. Throughout 2025\, enjoy incredible films meant to expand horizons and inspire discussion.  \nThis June\, join us for a screening of Fences\, an award-winning film starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis\, whose performance earned Davis the title of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2017 Academy Awards.  \nBefore the film\, Wunmi Idowu\, the Founder and Director of Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc. and curator of the Black Excellence Film Series will host a panel discussion with local filmmakers Sarah Uwadiae and Omatta Udalor. Come early to enjoy culturally inspired snacks and beverages\, browse custom clothing from Black-owned local businesses\, and reserve your seats!
