DESCRIPTION:  \n \nBalloon Day\nThe Hangar Flight Museum opens a new exhibit Up\, Up and Away on July 20\, 2024. This exhibit discusses the history and theory of hot air balloon flying\, explains the anatomy of the balloon\, and celebrates the accomplishments of a pioneering female balloon pilot Joan Martin. On Saturday\, July 20\, The Hangar will host a Balloon Day with balloon trailers\, baskets\, and pilots on site\, crafts for air minded kids\, presentations at 11am and 1pm\, and a panel discussion with seasoned hot air balloon pilots at 2pm. The exhibit will be officially opened at noon. SUMMARY:Blood\, Sweat & Tears: An exhibition on Canadian Military Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Blood\, Sweat\, and Tears: Canadian Military Medicine explores Canadian military medicine from the 19th century through to Afghanistan. The exhibition features personal artifacts and oral histories from Canada’s medical teams who have saved countless lives tending to wounded military personnel and civilians. \nCanadian stretcher-bearers\, medics\, nurses\, doctors\, surgeons\, and other medical personnel have played an essential role in the country’s military\, especially in the First and Second World Wars\, where over 138\,000 and 53\,000 were wounded\, respectively. \nVisitors to the gallery will discover technological advances that have been made\, through exhibits of equipment spanning initial first aid and battlefield medicine through to convalescence. There is also a strong art component\, particularly addressing PTSD.
