SUMMARY:Wolf Willow Jewelry Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The wolf willow shrub has been used by Indigenous Peoples and the Métis on the prairies for generations. From its use as decoration on clothing or in jewelry\, as medicine\, in weaving and many more\, this important plant continues to be used in various ways today.   \nIn this workshop\, Métis artisan Janis Laboucane will teach you the history\, uses\, and preparation of the wolf willow bead\, including the hands-on process of cleaning\, boiling\, piercing and drying the seeds to make beads. Janis will then lead you in making your own set of a bracelet and earrings made from wolf willow!

SUMMARY:Walk for Reconciliation
DESCRIPTION:We invite the community to participate in the 17th annual Walk for Reconciliation this National Indigenous Peoples Day. This event honours residential school survivors\, the children who didn’t return home from residential schools\, and celebrating the vibrant and lively Indigenous communities and cultures that still exist today.  \nThe walk begins at 9 am at the Harry Hays Building (220 4 Ave SE) and travel down the RiverWalk to end at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (750 9 Ave SE) for a community meal\, an outdoor gathering with speeches and performances by drummers and dancers\, and a variety of other free activities like fireside stories with a Treaty 7 Elder\, traditional Indigenous hand games\, and Métis cultural programming at Calgary’s oldest building.   \nFor full event itinerary\, visit theconfluence.ca/events/wfr-2026
