Studio Bell After Hours opens fall season with experimental pop act Braids!

Join the National Music Centre for Studio Bell After Hours on Friday, September 22 from 7 pm to 11 pm. Enjoy three separate live music spaces with performances by experimental pop act Braids, along with DJ selections from Kloves (techno) and Miss Hazard (house and techno). Plus, delve into a range of interactive activities, including a VR Game Room, drum machine experience, Studio Bell scavenger hunt, and pop-up bars and bites. Collect your crew and get your dancing shoes ready for another night of Studio Bell After Hours, where the lights are turned down and the tunes are turned up.

Heritage Park Historical Village
The Sights and Sounds of Fall at Heritage Park!
Heritage Park is at its best, and most beautiful during the fall season. The Historical Village is open on weekends until October 9 while Gasoline Alley Museum remains open daily. It’s all about the steam machines during Railway Days on September 23 and 24, and visitors can enjoy an old-fashioned Thanksgiving weekend, October 7 to 9. Once the village closes, ghosts take over the park ,after dark, with Wednesday evening ghost tours in September and October, and the family-friendly Ghouls’ Night Out event, October 26 to 29.

Hangar Flight Museum
Monthly Movie Nights and The Hangar Games Nights
Dates: Second Thursday of every month, October 2017 – May 2018
The Hangar Flight Museum runs a monthly movie night on the second Thursday of every month beginning at 7:00pm from October to May.
Brand new for this fall, is a monthly board game night partnering with Myth Games. The first board game night is on September 14th at 6:30pm, and the second night will be October 19th. Play your favourite game (or something new) under the wings of the planes!

Slumber Party at Glenbow Museum

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Glenbow’s permanent exhibition, Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta and to celebrate, we’re hosting a special sleepover party! Kids 7-12 and their accompanying adults are invited to join us for after-hours fun and night time gallery exploration. Expect exclusive hands-on activities and a tour behind the scenes to see how and where our precious artifacts are stored. Fort Calgary commemorates Treaty Day!

Treaty 7 has returned to Alberta for the first time and we are honoured to make this history available to our visitors. Join us to share in learning about this living document and its continuing legacy. Fort Calgary will be hosting various events throughout the week, including a private viewing and ceremony in partnership with The Calgary Drop In & Rehab Centre on September 18; a speaker series with David Khan, AB Liberal Party Leader and Indigenous Rights lawyer on September 21; and a public Commemoration Ceremony with the Stoney-Nakoda Nations on September 22.

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame
Come see our Horses in Sport exhibit!
Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s new exhibit features eight major national and international equestrian events in Canada in which horses play an integral role including the Calgary Stampede, Canadian Derby, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Unique artefacts on display include Tom Glass’ chuckwagon from the 1930s that he used during the last 15 years of his career and won four Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Championships, a 35 million year old prehistoric horse skeleton, along with feature videos of major equestrian event highlights, interviews with Margaret Southern and Ian Millar, and information about the health, nutrition, and therapy of horses.

Step inside the Land of Lemurs and come face-to-face with a lemur!
Dates: Before winter arrives
Land of Lemurs is home to red fronted lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs, and a black-and-white ruffed lemur. The open concept allows guests to become immersed in the lemurs’ world, engage with interpretive programs, and leave with simple actions they can take to help protect wildlife. This habitat’s immersive outdoor loop is seasonal. During evenings and winter months, the lemurs are housed in a heated building that can be viewed from exterior windows in Land of Lemurs. Walk with the lemurs before winter arrives!

Hurry in to Feed the Fish!

The Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery will be closing its doors to the public for a year while it undergoes renovations. Hurry in this September to join a Fish Hatchery adventure, and make a splash as you feed thousands of trout a snack!
Behind-the-scenes Fish Hatchery tours take place Tuesdays through Sundays at noon and 2pm. Short on time or attention? Fish Feedings take place Tuesdays through Sundays at 11am and 3pm, as well as at 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
