Black Excellence Film Series: Fences

June 20 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

$15

Celebrate the power of storytelling with the Black Excellence Film Series, a dynamic collaboration between Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc. and The Confluence.  More than just a screening, this year-long film series creates space for meaningful conversations, deeper connections, and a shared appreciation of the richness of Black culture, history, and creativity. Throughout 2025, enjoy incredible films meant to expand horizons and inspire discussion.

This June, join us for a screening of Fences, an award-winning film starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, whose performance earned Davis the title of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2017 Academy Awards.

Before the film, Wunmi Idowu, the Founder and Director of Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc. and curator of the Black Excellence Film Series will host a panel discussion with local filmmakers Sarah Uwadiae and Omatta Udalor. Come early to enjoy culturally inspired snacks and beverages, browse custom clothing from Black-owned local businesses, and reserve your seats!
